When spending time away from the For1ThreeFoundation, Will serves as the General Manager of the Washington Wizards. With over 17 years of experience in the NBA, his career began in 2008 as an intern for the Seattle Supersonics which culminated in a successful 15-season tenure with the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he rose to the position of Vice President of Basketball Operations.
Born in Springfield, MA, into a hardworking family of community and spiritual leaders, Dawkins has always had a deep passion for sports and giving back. His values are rooted in service, and this commitment is reflected in both his professional and personal life.
A graduate of the High School of Commerce, Dawkins lettered in three varsity sports and was a member of the National Honor Society. In 2004, he led the Red Raiders to a Division I State Championship in basketball, earning MVP honors for the tournament. He was also awarded the John “Honey” Lahovich Award as the Western Massachusetts Player of the Year. In recognition of his achievements, Dawkins was inducted into the Springfield, Massachusetts Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
Dawkins went on to graduate from Emerson College, where he served as captain of the men’s basketball team, was Academic All-District, and earned the distinction of being a two-time Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar All-American. He left as the school’s all-time assist leader and was third alltime in scoring.
Passionate about giving back, Dawkins and his wife Tara founded the For1Three Foundation in 2025, focusing on youth empowerment and increasing access to sports, health, and fitness for underserved communities. Dawkins brings this same passion for community engagement to his work with the Wizards, where he fosters a culture of teamwork, integrity, and social responsibility within the organization.
Earlier this year, he was honored with the Beacon of Grace Award from the Greater Washington Urban League, recognizing leaders who demonstrate excellence, resilience, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact.
Blending basketball expertise with a strong sense of social responsibility, Dawkins is a dedicated leader, committed to leaving a lasting, positive legacy for both his family and the broader communities he serves. Both he and Tara, are proud parents of three children—Trey, Journee, and Rylee—who they hope one day will take over the foundation and continue its mission.
Tara Dawkins brings a lifelong passion for youth, sports, fitness and education to her work with the For1Three Foundation. A former multi-sport athlete, she earned a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications with a focus on Broadcasting and a minor in Sport Management from Oklahoma City University in 2007. During her senior year, she interned with the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets, contributing during a pivotal moment in the city's evolving sports landscape.
Following graduation, Tara launched her career at ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut. She soon returned to Oklahoma to be part of a historic milestone: the arrival of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Beginning as an unpaid game operations coordinator, she rose to become Manager of Digital Media in the Events and Entertainment department—at the time, the only Native American woman in that role across the entire NBA.
After fulfilling her dream of working in professional sports, Tara returned to higher education to pursue another passion: physical therapy. She earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2018. Today, she practices in orthopedic outpatient care, grounded in a strong belief in the healing power of movement.
Tara proudly represents the Crow, Sioux, Ponca, and Chickasaw Nations. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic, which provides high-quality medical services to Native communities throughout the state. She and her husband, Will, are incredibly grateful for their three beautiful children who inspire them daily to lead with purpose and heart.
Tara's journey—as a professional, mother, and proud Native woman—continues to shape her mission to uplift the next generation through access, opportunity, and community.
